The gateway module, if present, mounts in the electrical panel and carries a white label with a QR code - scan it, and the first four digits indicate the hardware revision.

DIY or Call Us?

There’s a safe middle ground, and a hard stopping point.

What you can check safely: confirm the 24V transformer output with a multimeter at the electrical panel (should read 23.5-24.5V), verify the gateway’s LED status (solid green = paired; flashing amber = pairing mode; red = hardware fault), and inspect the damper linkage for visible corrosion or binding. Photograph any error codes before power-cycling - Dvele’s diagnostic history clears on reset.

Where DIY goes wrong: the control gateway requires Dvele’s proprietary commissioning software and a dealer-level login to pair new hardware. Without it, you’ll install a $900 module that never leaves pairing mode. More critically, the 240V heat pump water heater circuit and the low-voltage control bus share a bonded ground in Dvele’s design; a miswired repair can energize the thermostat housing.
